Here To Stay Coalition

Who We Are:

We are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, community activists, church members, teachers, postal workers, garbage men, caretakers, caregivers, lawyers, the incarcerated, public service workers, blue collar workers, white collar workers, hospital workers, your neighbor next door, your child behind bars, singers, dancers, poets, and everywhere else you are.

We are a coalition of Black LGBTQI, friends, family and relatives based in Los Angeles California committed to working within the Black community to end homophobia, the fear and hatred of same gender loving people.

The coalition began in November 2008 after the passage of Proposition 8 (a proposition which legalized discrimination by eliminating the right of same sex couple to marry by amending  he state constitution) which highlighted the need for sustained dialogue and discourse of issues of sexuality, human rights, religion and civil rights.

We fight against all forms of oppression and domination in our community ranging from police brutality to combating poverty.  We recognize that hatred and violence against same gender loving people is linked to keeping a group of people down just as racism, sexism, classism, imperialism have historically oppressed people.
